When you think about the term videosurveillance it normally conjures up images of those reality television shows where you are stuck in a house with strangers, or something out of a spy movie featuring Eastern European bad guys trying to destroy the Western world.

It doesn’t have to be that way though.

I recently invested some money in buying a top notch video surveillance security system for my home. I did this because I currently live in quite a rough neighbourhood and I am often away and my disabled father is left on his own.

Now I don’t have to worry about anything happening to him while I am away for any period of time.

Beefing Up Security Is A Good Thing

While there is no doubt about the fact that Google Adsense is the king of ad networks, their downside is that they only pay if someone clicks on one of your ad links. For most of us, who receive a low amount of clicks, this means we will be lucky to earn a Dollar every month.

What if you have quite a bit of traffic but not many of your visitors are willing to click on your ads? The answer comes in the form of an ad network like AdsDaq.

AdsDaq is a network that specialises in the CPM market. What this means is that that they will pay you for every 1,000 impressions that your site receives. This is so much better for blogs amongst us who receive good amounts of traffic but low clicks.

The control panel can be a rather daunting prospect at first glance but after a while it will become quite clear. The fact that they use words like “tag code” instead of ad code can also be confusing if you have not come across this meaning before.

I personally like this network because, unlike others, I have yet to see any suspicious ads that distribute malware or redirect to dodgy web sites. Well if there have been any I have not seem them and neither has any of my readers on the three blogs that run these ads.

The pay per 1,000 impressions can be quite low but I think that may be due to my specific blogs rather than the company. Other sites are having a lot more success with this network than I am.

Another feature I like is if you see an ad running that you don’t like then you can block that ad, and ads like that, from running again. You can pretty much filter what ads do and don’t show on your web site.

The advantage AdsDaq has over Adsense is that they offer a payout option via PayPal, this kind of thing can be very enticing to people like myself who don’t want to wait up to six weeks for a check to arrive.

They are certainly one of the more reliable companies on the market. I’d suggestion a two month trial will be the correct length to establish if they are right for you and your web site or not.

Pro

- Pays per 1,000 impressions.
- An option to block certain types of ads from showing
- They pay via PayPal, check and electric bank transfer

Con

- The layout of the control panel can be confusing at first
- Payment can be low for quite a few categories
- Ads are not related to your site content.

Adsdaq A Reliable Network In An Unreliable Market

Some people might take a look at the title of this blog post and come to the conclusion that it is going to be a negative review of this company. On the contrary, I’ve called it the poor man’s Adsense because that is what a lot of people refer to it as.

I first came across Adbrite about four years ago when I was unceremoniously banned and thrown out of Adsense for invalid clicks that were done by somebody that was not me. (I have no idea who it was to this day)

The first thing I like about Adbrite is that they will pretty much accept anyone as long as your site is legal and has some amount of traffic, they will even accept adult web sites which a lot of other companies steer well clear off.

There are some things that annoy me about Adbrite, for a start it takes at least three hours for them to start generating ads and you will see a notice on your site informing you of this. And even after this initial stage they might not find any for you for around 24 hours.

Secondly they are not always very good when it comes to showing adverts that are related in anyway shape or form to the content of your web site page. So you will find you have adverts advertising credit cards on a site about football or cancer.

The amount that they pay per click has dropped dramatically in the past year or so, so instead of receiving an average of $0.40 per click I’m lucky to see more than $0.02 per click. There are the odd $0.40 clicks but not very many of them.

There are other things that I dislike, such as they only pay American cheques and the issues of only having three ad unit sizes to pick from.

But if you are looking for an alternative to Adsense, and you don’t have a lot of traffic, then Adbrite could very well be a good stop gap measure until your traffic picks up and you can find a better network.

Pro
- They accept pretty much anyone.
- They pay CPM as well.

Con
- A lot of the time does not display relevant ads to your site
- Pay per clicks has dropped incredibly low recently
- They only pay via American cheque

Adbrite, The Poor Man’s Adsense?

One of the nice things about making your money working from home is that you can take time out from work to indulge in hobbies and past times whenever you want to without getting into trouble from the boss.

One of my passions is cars. I might not know a lot about what goes on under the hood but I do enjoy customising cars. I’m a big fan of the old style wood dash
panel style that cars had around the late 70s and 80s.

Asset Allocation Better Than A 401k

One of my close friends has followed in my footsteps and has bought himself a classic car. He has bought himself a VW and I have to say that I am incredibly jealous and will be pestering him to let me get under the hood at some point.

He is not really as big a car fan as I am but I like to encourage him, and it is far better than his deep sea fishing hobby. I already hooked him up with a number of reliable web sites that specialise in selling classic VW accessories, so he won’t have the kind of headache I had.

I wonder how his wife is taking the news? When my wife found out about my love of tinkering with cars she wasn’t best pleased, especially when she would turn over at 2am and I’d still be out in the garage playing away.

I’m quite surprised cars don’t cause more trouble in marriages than they do!

Cheap Items & Donating To Charity At Once?

In the two years that I have been trying to make an income on the internet the one thing that I have been repeatedly seeing people talk about is something called forex trading. I never understood the whole concept so I kept away from that whole area as it sounded immensely complicated.

In fact all I knew about the subject was that the people who understood how it works were making very good money and the people who had clue were not.

That was until I was pointed in the direction of an excellent blog that I was informed would help me gain a better understanding of how this niche works.

The blog is called Learn Forex, it is a blog that has been set up to help people, who do not understand forex trading, become better acquainted with the whole niche. It is more seen by me as a resource web site rather than a blog to be honest.

The first thing I looked at on Learn Forex was the free book page which has some books that will go into intricate detail about how it all works and how to get your foot in the door, if it is something you’re interested in doing.

The site also has tips, advice, news and some awesome videos that not only go into detail but actually show you how, which is better than reading from a book in some cases.

If getting into forex trading is something that interests you then you could do a lot worse than checking out Learn Forex.

Understanding Forex Trading A Little Better

If you are like me then you are probably not looking forward to the forthcoming holiday season. It is cold, there is never anything good on the TV, everything closes on Christmas Day and it will cost an absolute arm and a leg to buy presents, decorations and food.

While there is not much you can do about the first three reasons, that I mentioned, there is actually something that you can do about the whole shindig costing you an arm and a leg. And what is more you can do it from home.

You can take the sting out of paying for the latest toy crazes, that your children are demanding, by joining a web site called Get Paid To. It is a web site that pays you for taking part in surveys, filling in forms, completing free & trial offers, installing programs, joining sites and lots of other things.

With this particular site I have earned around $100.00, and that was with me just idly completing an offer here and there when I was bored. You can earn more from them if you spend an hour or two a day completing the many pages of offers they have available.

A large chunk of that $100.00 came to me last year when I was about to go on holiday so I was able to have more spending money than I thought, which was a very nice surprise to receive.

What Kind Of Offers?

There are many different types of offers available. There are offers that require you to have a credit card and also offers that require you to buy something in order to earn more money. To be honest I’m not going to dwell on those as I’m here to make money, not part with it.

The offers that I (and I’m sure you) am interested in are the ones that don’t require you to spend any money, or the use of a credit card, and thankfully there are plenty of these available for us.

There are offers where you simply click on a link and get paid, ones where you complete polls, ones where you complete surveys, ones where you join sites, ones where you download and install programs to your PC and even ones where you join other GPT sites.

Affiliate System

I have been quite lazy when it comes to taking the offers, I might login and do a couple here and there when I am bored and have nothing to do. Obviously this is not going to help me make any money. But thankfully Get Paid To has a rather nice referral system in place.

Basically someone signs up with your link and then every time they earn any money Get Paid To will give you some money too.

I now make almost all my money from this.

Paying

The thing that I like about this site so much is that it has no minimum payout limit. You could have earned £0.10 and still get it paid to you through PayPal. They do require you the phone them when you make your first payout request, to confirm you own the account, but this is a one-off deal.

Final Thought

I am quite surprised that not more people are using sites like Get Paid To. I know it can become quite boring and tedious to have to fill out the offers but I find if you donate an hour or two a day then that should make it easier.

Get Paid To Have A Merry Christmas

Blogging Ads is probably one blog review network that you might not have heard about up until now. This is due in a large part to the fact that not many blogs write reviews for them or plug their network.

For the majority of bloggers, who take part in sponsored reviews, Blogging Ads does not do much (if anything) to help them make any money. This is because these bloggers have blogs with Page Rank 0 and Blogging Ads will only offer you review opportunities if you have a Page Rank 1 or higher blog.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, it filters out all the low quality blogs and the blogs that are stuffed full of sponsored reviews and not very much else.

I currently have three blogs approved. Two of them were approved over a year ago when they had Page Ranks of 2 and 3 respectively but I have never received any review opportunities and now that they have dropped to Page Rank 0 I’m unlikely to get any in the near future.

But the third blog I have listed with them is a Page Rank 1 and that one does get opportunities. In fact as I write this I have completed and received payment for three review opportunities.

Blogging Ads are incredibly picky about which blogs they accept, just because you have a Page Rank does not mean you will automatically get in. Their standards are very high so that advertisers will be encouraged to use them over the other networks.

I’ve found that the reviews tend to be about business rather than products, events or web sites. They mainly seem to be about plumber business in the United States. This makes a change from the normal credit card and sex type reviews.

They pay are roughly 30 days which is something that has always been a pet peeve of mine, but I can understand why a lot of networks do this. They do it to stop people removing the posts.

Good Points

- Have high standards to filter out the low quality blogs.
- They don’t insist on a minimum payout.

Bad Points

- Payout is monthly.
- Opportunities can be far and few between.
- Can be rather pedantic When approving reviews.
- They limit how many reviews you can do in a month for them (three I think)

How Can They Improve?

Obviously I would like to see some more review opportunities and a removal, or at least an increment, in the amount of reviews you are allowed to do in a month. I don’t think three is a very good limit.

I’d also like to see the implementation of an auto system where you can choose to be emailed when new review opportunities are available. Having to manually log in several times a day to check can be rather time consuming.

I think they could increase their business if they installed some kind of a referral system. Bloggers would then write more about the network in order to encourage their readers to join up.

Final Thought

Although you might not make a lot of money with Blogging Ads, I do believe that they are worth joining if you are looking to gather a small collection of networks to earn a little bit of money from each of them to add it all together at the end of the month.
