We are now living in an era where everyone is being urged, with gusto, to recycle and do your bit to help save this slowly decaying planet of ours. Personally I don’t know how washing out a couple of jam jars a week will help but that is for my personal blog.
I was sitting here this morning when I thought to myself:
“This blog is my whole world, why can’t I do some type of recycling thing to help her in the future.”
And then it suddenly dawned on me that I do have something that I can recycle, the content of the blog.
Now I know that a lot of you will be shouting that reusing your content is dangerous to my blog and could make the mighty Google overlords crash down upon me and take away my rankings in their search engine, but hear me out.
My plan isn’t to republish old content on this blog, far from it. My plan is to take old content, give it a bit of a clean up, and then submit them for publication on article directory web sites in a bid to drive more traffic to this blog.
Has anybody tried this kind of thing before? I’d welcome your comments on the subject.

I recommend that you focus on ezinearticles.com. I also recommend that you rework the material enough so that it does not appear as duplicate content to Google.
Thanks for the suggestion. I have received a few suggestions for that very site so I think it is very popular and will certainly see if they accept some of my work.
I think it’s a great idea – I do it for a few of my older and popular articles.
What I do with some of them is copy everything and convert it to a PDF, then share it on websites like Docstoc.
You don’t really have to worry about duplicate content because your blog is already ranked well with it – it’s a smart use of old content
That is a fanastic idea. Thank you very very much.
Awesome idea! Nothing is wasted and people benefit from this too
Glad you liked it. Plus it will gain me some extra traffic by recycling my old content.
The articles you post were really good. It is a shame if it didn’t get recycled
Thank you, that is a very nice thing to say.
I find this approach interesting. I think I will try this myself and see if it will boost my traffic.
As long as you remember to alter the content slightly so Google doesn't punish you for duplicate content.
Hey Dean,
Nice Post. I’m already following this approach for ezinearticles.
And it’s really helping me out.
Thanks for sharing this great Post.

Thanks Dev.
Do you know what I discovered yesterday? A plugin that will randomly post old content onto my Twitter account. I'm already seeing good traffic from this.
I don’t do it always but seldom in a month or two I do with some post which is very useful and it’s a timeless post. Such post works best and even my reader don’t mind seeing content twice…
Though I always ad a note call
Update: and add some new informations
I’ve started posting old posts on Twitter which seems to be going down very well.
Hey Dean – I love this idea.
Another idea: pull together some of your related content into the same page and make a static page out of it. Call it required reading or something else interesting, or even create an email marketing campaign out of it.
Or go the problogger route and turn it into a book and sell it. LOL
Cheers,
Tia
Very good idea Tia.
I have thought about putting some of the best articles into an ebook and giving it away.
Well.. this thing is encouranged with squidoo and hubpages.
Only if you rewrite the content. Posting it as it originally appears will get you into trouble with them.
You can use information for recycling, if you use same content more than 50% then it is not fine in term of plagiarism. Now after Google panda updates series you can’t be able to publish copy content from other pages, Google can penalized your website or blog in search results.
My aim was never to republish the same content, my aim was to rewrite it and then publish it on article sites.
