I received an email two weeks ago from someone called Abbie who asked me if I would be interested in exchanging links with her. The deal would be that I put a link on this blog advertising her job web site and in return she would put a link advertising this blog on two of her writing web sites.
Both her writing web sites have a Page Rank of 1 & 2. So I thought it would be a good deal for me, as I have a Page Rank of 0, and it would be a good deal for her as she gets traffic from people looking for ways to works.
I placed the link and waited patiently for her to do the same. But she never did. I waited about a week before emailing her and politely enquiring about the links. Her reply was very nice and she explained how she had forgootten, it happens to us all at some point.
She asked me to change the anchor text and the url of the link to another job site off hers. This was done within minutes.
Another week has passed and still no links have appeared on her sites concerning this blog.
So I’ve removed her link and will now no longer accept links of this nature.

I am not surprised, She most likely emails many bloggers in a day looking to do the same while building free links for a while on top sites! You can really never trust anone!
Yep. I have learned a lesson. I'm being more careful about this sort of thing in future.
thanks for your tips. now im in a process of link exchange to my website its useful for me.
If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.
It's sad that no one can be trusted nowadays. http://www.dantheoilman.com/vitamins.html
Sadly this is one thing EVERYBODY should learn if they wish to make an income online. They are so many people out there looking to get one over on the new guys.
Maybe she was very busy….I think you've done the right thing. If she really want to exchange link, she will do it =)
To be fair I did give plenty of time, I waited a week each time.
When I receive a link exchange request that I'm willing to consider I let them know that they need to place my link on their site first and then I will add theirs. I have found that those who agree to do this are honest and keep my link up on their site. Those that won't agree to it will not get a trade from me. I regularly check to make sure my links are still up. Only once did I find a site that removed my link without informing me, of course I immediately removed their link from my site.
I think in the future I will take this stance. Thanks Aaron.
plenty of people want to exchange link, emmm correction
plenty of people want to get free links!
just ignore people who don't have integrity
This is very true.
I think in future I'll ask them to place my link up first.
