Blogging Ads: High Standard In Sponsored Posting

by Dean Saliba on December 3, 2009 · Reviews

Blogging Ads is probably one blog review network that you might not have heard about up until now. This is due in a large part to the fact that not many blogs write reviews for them or plug their network.

For the majority of bloggers, who take part in sponsored reviews, Blogging Ads does not do much (if anything) to help them make any money. This is because these bloggers have blogs with Page Rank 0 and Blogging Ads will only offer you review opportunities if you have a page rank 1 or higher blog.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, it filters out all the low quality blogs and the blogs that are stuffed full of sponsored reviews and not very much else.

I currently have three blogs approved. Two of them were approved over a year ago when they had Page Ranks of 2 and 3 respectively but I have never received any review opportunities and now that they have dropped to page rank 0 I’m unlikely to get any in the near future.

But the third blog I have listed with them is a page rank 1 and that one does get opportunities. In fact as I write this I have completed and received payment for three review opportunities.

Blogging Ads are incredibly picky about which blogs they accept, just because you have a Page Rank does not mean you will automatically get in. Their standards are very high so that advertisers will be encouraged to use them over the other networks.

I’ve found that the reviews tend to be about business rather than products, events or web sites. They mainly seem to be about plumber business in the United States. This makes a change from the normal credit card and sex type reviews.

They pay are roughly 30 days which is something that has always been a pet peeve of mine, but I can understand why a lot of networks do this. They do it to stop people removing the posts.

Good Points

- Have high standards to filter out the low quality blogs.
- They don’t insist on a minimum payout.

Bad Points

- Payout is monthly.
- Opportunities can be far and few between.
- Can be rather pedantic When approving reviews.
- They limit how many reviews you can do in a month for them (three I think)

How Can They Improve?

Obviously I would like to see some more review opportunities and a removal, or at least an increment, in the amount of reviews you are allowed to do in a month. I don’t think three is a very good limit.

I’d also like to see the implementation of an auto system where you can choose to be emailed when new review opportunities are available. Having to manually log in several times a day to check can be rather time consuming.

I think they could increase their business if they installed some kind of a referral system. Bloggers would then write more about the network in order to encourage their readers to join up.

Final Thought

Although you might not make a lot of money with Blogging Ads, I do believe that they are worth joining if you are looking to gather a small collection of networks to earn a little bit of money from each of them to add it all together at the end of the month.

Hello, thank you for your review of Blogging Ads. You raise some very valid points and offer some good ideas. A system that emails bloggers in our system to tell them that new opportunities are available would not be a bad idea. One way that you can see more opportunities is by increasing the number of categories that your blog falls into, assuming that it falls into more than 1 category. Some bloggers only select one category when they sign up. If their blog only falls into one category, then this is adequate, but we have noticed that most blogs fall into 3-4 categories.

I have to disagree with your characterization that most of the opportunities come from plumbing companies. We do have an advertiser or two in the system that specializes in plumbing, but we do not have more plumbing advertisers than other types.

"I think they could increase their business if they installed some kind of a referral system. Bloggers would then write more about the network in order to encourage their readers to join up."

We have toyed with the idea of an affiliate program and might institute it. Let me ask you this. You said you would like emails sent out to tell bloggers if new opportunities are available. What if this was offered as a premium service that would give you a jump on your competition? Would you be willing to pay $2 a month for this service? (knowing of course that at say, $5 a post, you would make your money back by snagging just 1 offer)

Hello.

I must say you were very quick to find this post. I only published it about an hour before you left your comment, even less than that I think.

I'm glad you liked the review. Hopefully it will show some light for the people reading this who are thinking about joining your network.

With regards to the 'plumbing' part of my review. This was based on my own experience where the reviews I was offered were mainly plumbing companies. I'm sorry I should have made that clearer in my review.

Your premium email question is interesting. It is something I will put to my readers to see what they have to say on the matter.

i'm a new blogger and i've been looking around to monetize my site. do you think it's ok to have these ads in my site even though my traffic is very little. Should i wait until my traffic increases before monetizing my blog? thanks.

What a good question.

For a blog with little traffic I would suggest Adsense and Adbrite with maybe Smowtion thrown in as until you start bringing in the visitors.

Blog reviews are also a good idea as you don't need lots of traffic to join these networks you just need a blog that has been around for at least three months and has a regular posting schedule.

You can find links to these companies on the page below:

I hope you make lots of money with your blog. :)

I am using Sponsored Reviews and Review Me as my best 2 but I am always looking for more good services. I will check this out, thanks for the review.

Thank you. I'm hoping to review every one that I'm part of (over 20).

Sponsored Reviews was great for me but it dropped offf severely when I stupidly did too many reviews and lost my PR2 status.

have you been getting more opps? i am not sure if they email you now or you have to keep on checking your account if there are opps or not?

also, if there are no opps, does it tell you that

“This blog’s Google PageRank is not high enough to accept opportunities. You will be notified if your PageRank improves.”

?

not sure if that is their default message or they just forgot to update my pr because i actually forgot about this site until i checked your post

Hiya Chitgoks,

On average I see offers once or twice a week (I check once a day). They might not be of inteerest to a lot of people though as they are normally about plumbing or legal services in Florida or some other town in America. Each one is $5.00

I do not receive emails from them.

I have three blogs with them, one of the blogs does not qualify but the other two do and this is what it says under them right now:

Dean Saliba Dot Com (0 ads)

No opportunities are available for this blog

I Need Discipline

This blog\’s Google PageRank is not high enough to accept opportunities. You will be notified if your PageRank improves.

The Final Cut (0 ads)

No opportunities are available for this blog

Thanks for dropping by.:)

oh man. their customer support looks dead. have not replied in 2 days and counting …

all the status in my blog is about not qualified pagerank and they already have high pr.

well, guess i cant receive any opps coz the blog status are like what you mentioned. plus one of my blogs suddenly became not yet approved. their system’s messed up

The support is the one thing I hate about sponsored post networks as a lot of them don\’t respond to me until I start criticising them on my blog. :)

only a few of them. those that barely have any opps to offer. the rest are pretty good. they reply prompty like reviewme and sponsoredreviews. those two are very very good

I retract what I just said. :D I have to admit that both of those you have mentioned have been very good at handling support emails. :)

I actually haven’t been able to add my site to this network.. it keeps telling me “not cached in Google” even though it most certainly is. Anybody else having this error? Oh, and I can’t find contact information anywhere on the entire site.. : /

Funny you should say this as I have recently had trouble adding additional blogs because of this. They actually commented on this post so I have their email address, you can also find it on their site in the FAQ section but I’ll save you the time and list it here – sales@bloggingads.com.
