May 2009 Blog Income Report

by Dean Saliba on June 1, 2009 · Monthly Blog Income

Was it me or did May just absolutely shoot by? The month of April was not good for me, both for earning and income online and for some personal problems. Sadly the personal problems were not sorted out as I had hoped and again my time online suffered badly for it.

The good news is my personal problems seem to be over with so I should be back to normal now. While the problems stopped me from making as much money online as I would have liked I did actually see and increase in the amount for the month of May, which is very good news.

I started this as a little side project in November 2007 to determine if it was at all possible to earn proper money on the internet as many other people have claimed to have done before me.

Page Impressions & Visitor Count

I don’t know who to believe to be honest with you. I use four (FOUR) plugins to keep track of how many hits and page views I recieve and each onee of them is showing a completely different figure. One is saying I received 32,000, another 21,000 the third is spouting 12,000 and the last one is saying 900!

One of them is Google Analytics so even that is not accurate!

So from now on I shall not be documenting the hits and the page view.

Money Money Money!

Adbrite = $0.48 (-$0.09)
Adsense = $3.66 (-$0.14)
Adtoll = $0.29 (+$0.23)
Clicksor = $0.35 (+$0.28)
Kontera = $0.00 (-$0.04)
TLA = $12.41 (+$3.80)
Reviews = $93.85 (+$28.50)

Total: $111.04 (+$22.91)

*I am really pleased to see a rise in the amount I earned from last month. I’m hoping to improve on that now.

Top Five Search Terms

I like this part of the monthly income report. It is amazing how people find my blog on search engines.

1. need discipline
2. ineeddiscipline.com
3. snapbomb review
4. Review Networks
5. GETPAIDTOFART

* Someone for some reason googled the url to three of my posts, not only did they do that but they did each one about 20 times each for some reason. Why would you put http://www.google.com/search?q=http%3A%2F%2Fineeddiscipline.com%2F2009%2F04%2F18%2Ffollow-me-on-twitter-2%2F%23comment-9776 into a search engine that many times?

Nice income report. Over that $100 mark. Keep it up and aim for that $200 mark now.

Set monthly goals and try your best to complete them. I am sure you will clear over $200.

You welcome

I do try to set goals, but I let myself get distracted so easily.

But this month (or maybe next month) I shall get some goals written down and by God I'll stick to them!

Thanks for dropping by. :)

Cool report you have there, Dean, nice one :)

One thing I have to say tho… is Kontera really worth it? I mean, you’ve earned nothing from it this month, and only $0.04 last month, but (in my opinion) it’s really annoying, and I do know people who have completely stopped visiting website who use intext advertising. Not having a go at you, but just bringing it to your attention as to whether it’s worth potentially losing readers? ;)

To be honest I've been thinking of getting rid of Kontera as they have cut the amount they pay right down lately.

I have kept them for 2 reasons:

1. Some bloggers earned a lot with them (some more than they earned with Adsense).

2. It took me so long to be accepted. :D

I'll probably keep them until the end of the month and then think about giving them the boot.

Thanks for dropping by. :)

No problem, I think I’ll become a regular commentator :D

Hmm, again, I’m not criticising, but it does seem that you’re earning practically nothing from tem ($0.04 in 2 months), so surely just hanging onto it (and potentially annoying readers – those ads do my head in!) for those reasons is a bit hopeful?

I have now removed them from nearly all my blogs. The only time I use them is when I submit articles to revenue shared article sites.

@Dean: I would have expected the incontent Adtoll and Adbrite to perform better than Adwords. Have you tried switching them?

Is it advisable to reveal publicly that you are using TLA and paid reviews? Can’t this get your blog penalized by big G?

To be honest I’ve never paid attention to the whole page rank thing, maybe this is because I lost my page rank about two years ago when I started doing paid reviews. :D

i had the same doubt as jeet, looks like you are getting nice income from reviews itself so its doesnt matter much with the PR, and about the New theme why there isnt any featured post on the Top it would look better if you add some post or remove it, its just my 2 cents.

I still make money with TLA and sponsored posts and the blog is now a PR3. I think as long as I don’t soak the blog with them I’ll be fine. :)

I have the same issue about the traffic. There is a little different between the stats that 2 plugins show.
However you still earned a hundred bucks, that’s good :)

As I’ve said a few times before I could earn more if I get my finger out and stop being so lazy. :mrgreen:

The reason there is no feature post is because I could not figure out how to edit that plugin. I’ve not found out how to edit the plugin and it should be showing.

I started doing adsense over a year ago.. turned over $1400 in that time. not too bad.

I’ve seen a lott of people make a lott of money with Adsense, sadly I’m not one of them yet. But I’ll keep trying, as I write this I just received my second ever $100 payout minimum.

Hey Nice report, though why have you removed adsense? as bid vertiser is making your blog look bad.. Better put banner of some affiliate product..which will help you to cross 200$ for sure…

Reply

deansaliba (59 comments) August 7, 2009 at 10:48 am

I haven't removed Adsense, I removed Adbrite but have been gradually bringing it back because Bidvertiser is too picky about which clicks it accepts and which it doesn't.

I won't reach $200 this month or even $50 as my internet contract has ended and my new one does not kick in until near the end of the month. :(

Weird your experience with the analytics software. I have the same…there are huge differences between the cPanel Webalizer and Gooogle Analytics results all the time.

I know, it’s hard to know which one is right. But I’ve had so many people tell me that Google Analytic is very accurate that I’m going to trust that. :)
