Do people who use the internet really hate pop-up advertising as much as is being published or has the whole matter been blown out of all proportion?

This is something that I have wondered for a very long time (ever since I emerged onto the internet back in 2001) and I think it is about time that I found out the correct answer once and for all.

During the entire month of February I shall be placing a piece of code on this blog and my personal blog over at Dean Saliba Dot Com that will produce a pop-up advert every time a visitor arrives at the main page.

I have placed some ground rules down:

- One pop-up only.
- Only appears once per visit to the blogs.

I will also encourage visitors to leave comments about what they think of pop-up advertising on the blogs and I will also be asking people who do not visit my blog what they think of pop-up advertising (and why they don’t visit my blogs!).

At the end of the month (March 1st) I shall create a new post that will publish my findings.

EDIT: Sadly due to complaints form advertising companies who advertise on this blog I have been forced to end the experiment after only six and a half days.

Bloggerwave are another small time network that don’t really offer their members a lot of offers, you only have to look at their ‘Top Dog Blogger’ board to find that the person who has earned the most from Bloggerwave is a ‘Flora Earl’ with a grand total of $350. (I’ve since been informed that this table is unreliable)

Although you might not get regular work with this particular network they do offer decent amounts of money for a review, out of the 11 that I have done for them I was only paid below $10.00 twice (both for $6.00).

When Bloggerwave first started back in 2007 there was a problem with PayPal freezing their assets and refusing to pass the money onto the bloggers who had earned it. This stuck in the throat of many bloggers who immediately screamed that the company were a scam and blamed Bloggerwave for the problem.

Even to this day there are a lot of bloggers who refuse to even talk about Bloggerwave because they are convinced they are a scam company. It is worth pointing out that these people are the ones who signed up to Bloggerwave and expected to make thousands of pounds from one network.

I have been with them for several months now and have completed 11 reviews for them (a 12th was rejected) and was paid on time and I did not have to chase them for the money that they owed me.

Good Points

- Don’t offer silly prices.
- Will accept most blogs other networks don’t.
- Have not offered me any acne or diet pill reviews yet.

Bad Points

- Not regular offers.
- Takes 30 days to pay you.
- Can drag their heels when approving your blog.
- Turned a lot of people away with their teething troubles in the beginning.

If you are looking for a network that can make you a lot of money then Bloggerwave probably isn’t going to be of any use to you. But if you are like me and have a number of small networks all offering reviews from time to time to add to the money you make with the bigger boys then Bloggerwave could be just right for you.

The first month of 2009 is already over and done with, boy did that go by in a blur. It seemed that I was just getting over the New Year’s Eve period and then suddenly we are in February.

To be honest I have been caught slacking lately when it comes to this blog. I have fulfilled my promise of posting on a more regular basis but what is the point of that if you do not make any money with it?

I started this as a little side project in November 2007 to determine if it was at all possible to earn proper money on the internet as many other people have claimed to have done before me.

Page Impressions & Visitor Count

Page Views

Posting more regularly seems to have help improve my traffic as I saw it increase to almost by roughly around 25% more than what I got for November 2008 which was the last report that I did.

This month the number stands at 7,919 which is a increase of 2,417 from November 2007.

Unique Visitors

When the age vioews go up then normally the unique hits will go up and this month was no exception to that rule. I saw the amount of unique visits almost double which I hope continues during February.

This month the number stands at 2,811, which is a huge increase of 2.560.

This means that each visitor looked at an average of 2.81 pages each.

Adbrite = $0.94
Adsense = $5.09
Adtoll = $0.08
Clicksor = $0.06
Kontera = $0.05
PayPopUp = $6.24
TLA = $23.50
Reviews: $15.00

Total: $50.22 (+$17.83)

I did have a combined total of $90.00 in CashCrate & GetPaidTo but they took the money back and did not give a me reason why so I am taking down all their adverts and probably won’t work with them anymore.

There is an improvement in the total from November, which is encouraging, but I think now that I don’t have a job I can devote more time to doing this and should see my total start to climb up to the $100 marks where it used to live.
