January Blog Income Report

by Dean Saliba on February 1, 2009 · Monthly Blog Income

The first month of 2009 is already over and done with, boy did that go by in a blur. It seemed that I was just getting over the New Year’s Eve period and then suddenly we are in February.

To be honest I have been caught slacking lately when it comes to this blog. I have fulfilled my promise of posting on a more regular basis but what is the point of that if you do not make any money with it?

I started this as a little side project in November 2007 to determine if it was at all possible to earn proper money on the internet as many other people have claimed to have done before me.

Page Impressions & Visitor Count

Page Views

Posting more regularly seems to have help improve my traffic as I saw it increase to almost by roughly around 25% more than what I got for November 2008 which was the last report that I did.

This month the number stands at 7,919 which is a increase of 2,417 from November 2007.

Unique Visitors

When the age vioews go up then normally the unique hits will go up and this month was no exception to that rule. I saw the amount of unique visits almost double which I hope continues during February.

This month the number stands at 2,811, which is a huge increase of 2.560.

This means that each visitor looked at an average of 2.81 pages each.

Adbrite = $0.94
Adsense = $5.09
Adtoll = $0.08
Clicksor = $0.06
Kontera = $0.05
PayPopUp = $6.24
TLA = $23.50
Reviews: $15.00

Total: $50.22 (+$17.83)

I did have a combined total of $90.00 in CashCrate & GetPaidTo but they took the money back and did not give a me reason why so I am taking down all their adverts and probably won’t work with them anymore.

There is an improvement in the total from November, which is encouraging, but I think now that I don’t have a job I can devote more time to doing this and should see my total start to climb up to the $100 marks where it used to live.

Top Five Search Terms

I like this part of the monthly income report. It is amazing how people find my blog on search engines.

1. need discipline
2. specticles
3. blogtoprofit pays
4. need discipline
5. ineed discipline

What was I earning this time last month?

Yes traffic is something I need to increase but considering the only promoting I have done has been on other blogs and forums I think it is a good start.

Thanks for dropping by. :)

Dean,

You are doing great. Thanks for sharing the stats. I have just started my own case study – as you have seen. I am going with the idea of not really monetizing the blog until about month 3 or 4. I want to build up a set of content, regular traffic, visitors, etc. Then, I will throw in some ads and whatnot.

Have you tried any Commission Junction or Clickbank type reviews/products for your site? Or if you are into gadgets – looking at doing an amazon type review/affiliate? It may help put some extra dough into the pocket.

Just a thought…

Hi Will,

Affiliate marketing is something I've been a bit hesitant to try but it is one of my goals for this year. I just want to research thoroughly before I dip my toe into that particular pool of water.

Good luck with your site and thanks for dropping by. :)

Dean,

What makes you hesitant? Is it the value of the items on clickbank? You know, there are alternatives to things like clickbank. Right now, as much as I am not monetizing my blog – at least not with ads and whatnot, I am using affiliate links for books I recommend, services I like (like aweber, hostgator, thesis theme).

It feels natural because I really use the products and like them. You may want to start with that.

Thought I’d come back to this and say that I have started affiliate marketing with books, DVDs and CDs from Amazon that I have read, watched and listened to. It’s a small start. :)
