I can still vividly remember when fax machines were first brought out onto the market. They claimed they would be the much needed item that evey company could not be without, and for about ten years they were bang on the money.
What shocked me was when I found out that even though you can now send a fax over the internet there are a lot of companies that still rely on their old fax machines to help them send faxes.
I found this when I working at Informa for three months, we would send faxes through the internet to people all over the world and they would then have to use their old fax machines to send a reply.
I’m not sure how long faxes will be around for as email seems to have taken over as a more speedy resolution.
I’ve never pretended to understand how it works. I remember once asking why the paper was still in the tray…
